A question of economics

Thanks for visiting the blogsite! Last week we had a great conversation on passion - the passion God has for us which moved Him to give us Jesus - the passion of Jesus to lay down His life for our forgiveness  - and the passion we have, to take what we have been given and share it with our community. Notice that passion is all about that which is given in response to that which is received!
This week...it's a question of economics.
A timely subject, to say the least!
Economics, in the proper sense, is all about management. The Greeks called OIKONOMIA the science of household management. It's about the balance of resources so as to minimize waste and maximize influence.
Let's set aside economics in the financial sense and think of spiritual economics.
Start by taking a look at Psalm 147. What does the Psalmist say about the economy of God?
We're all looking forward to your responses!

God's ways are not man's way. Neither is God's economy man's economy. God takes the broken and makes them whole. He takes the crooked paths and make them straight. He sees the 100 sheep and not only knows their names but knows when one is lost. He takes sinners and reckons them righteous. He considers man's greatest accomplishments as rubbish in comparison to what He gives freely.

In God's economy, He delights not in man's strength but his praise; He delights not in man's pride but his meekness; He delights not in man's independence but in his hope for mercy.

Excellent Comment!
Interesting how the Psalmist praises a God who gathers, heals and binds up the broken and wounded. If economy is all about management of resources, what's God up to here? In other words - how are the books of the economy of God "balanced"?

The balance sheet seems to be one sided, God gives and gets nothing in return. If I was God I would probably invest my resources with another Group.....BUT.... Praise God he is not a covenant breaker. BJH said it best "God's ways are not man's way".

As the Psalm says, God heals us, and binds up our wounds. God "manages" us in order that we become whole spiritually. He balances us (picks us up when we fall) and our resources so that we can in turn use the gifts and talents that He has blessed us with, and manage (share) our resources (gifts, talents, and passion) with others, and in doing so, balancing out God's economy and plan. We in turn, praise His Holy name, and please Him with our hope in his steadfast love. We undoubtedly can never give Him as much in return, but His balanced economy has to do with managing us, loving us, and guiding us on our journey here on earth; picking us up when we falter, so that we can continue on the path He has chosen for us, and to share His grace with others so that they know of His forgiveness and love.
